August 23 Beds 10/11 and 64

First, an overview of the three beds ... plants from the dwarf tomato grow out are beginning to look a little thread bare - these plants were just too bushy and a lot of leaf disease set in ..... but top growth is good and fruit is ripening

the Soleil and Teensy tomatoes in Bed 10 have fallen over, so I'll let them sprawl (the natural state of tomato vines); beans in right corner are growing well

and Bed 64 with Sunflowers and Tithona (Mexican Sunflower) in bloom

here is the harvest off four of the dwarf Worry plants - note two with pronounced stripes; these had to be harvested at first blush as the rats have now started nibbling at the fruit - some of these will be for seed saving only

and a close up of Worry "C" fruit to show size and weight

the Citizen Seed Trial tomatoes are also beginning to ripen ......

From Bed 10: 

From Bed 64:

a ripe Teensy from Bed 10 - often seeds with green gel indicate good flavour - in this case my notes say:  "soft vague acid, lots of seeds, maybe overripe"- so likely not a keeper - but the plant is healthy with excellent production

August 18 Back Container garden

Overview of back garden - this is as good as it gets!!

Bundaberg Rumball is beginning to stand out - love the production ........

August 17 'R' Garden Update

 A quick look at 'R' Garden mid-August .. first an overview:  the blue flax is done flowering and the lovely seed heads remain .....

the dahlias are just beautiful this season

and two views of the magnificent kale from the Citizen Seed trial ....... with zinnias making a show of pink - last year's colour were much more varied 

August 13 10/11 and 64 Garden

 Dwarf tomato Worry Plant "E" is loaded with fruit ....... but lots of foliage issues now starting to show up - bottom leaves have been removed from all five Worry plants in Bed 11

bean and Breen lettuce starts are looking good in Bed 10 - although I'm not too happy with all the wood bits in the soil ........

August 5 and 12 Container Garden Harvest

Two beauties - Cocozelle baby zucchini harvested August 5;  Fred's Tie Dye tomato in upper left, some Cajun Belle peppers and Sunchocola tomatoes along with basil and beans harvested August 12 ....... zucchini spelt muffins - yum

 

Aug 4 R Garden

 these dahlias are amazing - non stop blooms ....... a few zinnias - not the lovely display of last year - and my rhubarb and kale

August 1-2 Back Garden Harvest

First a pic of the back container garden - the zucchini is amazing me - and pole beans and cucumbers are looking good - some of the tomato plants are beginning to shows signs of age .. 

the tomato harvest begins - Red Lithium bottom and Sunchocola (yum) top ..... and the snow pea harvest ends ........ beans are providing a few tasty treats ......... and my first pepper of the year - Cajun Belle - a bit too hot for my taste -
