July 24, 26 and 27 Tomato Tastings

 Lilibet 4 - clear skin, pink with gold stripe - good balanced flavour, perhaps a bit overripe TASTE: 8

Rebel Starfighter Prime (Plant 1) - smooth, vaguely sweet, no acid balance, tending toward too soft TASTE:  7+

Lilibet 6 - very good tang, sweet balance but mild, not a strong flavour  TASTE:  7

Dwarf Sara's Olalla Emerald - OMG!!  everything its perfect, rich sweet/acid balance (tiny bit of BER) TASTE: 10

Rebel Starfighter Prime (Plant 2)  mushy - overripe?  texture not there  TASTE 7

Lilibet 5 - yellow, clear skin, nice texture very meaty and juicy not sure if fully ripe, good flavour balance 11.5 oz. TASTE 8+

Lucky Tiger - very crunchy skin, but not tough, nice sweet/acid balance good texture, juicy  TASTE 9

July 23 Back Garden Update

tiny green shoot is very special ....... dahlia tuber given to me by special friend ....... was getting eaten to a nub for months in the garden....... moved to a container - now finally - its alive 😁

Rebel Starfighter Prime - for a very sick looking plant, it is producing amazing fruit

and a Nadja eggplant joins two RSP

July 22 'R' Garden

not bad for no water for almost a week ........ wasn't too sure about my dahlia selections ...... took what was left at the VDS sale, but they do seem to complement each other ...... and of course the giant zucchini

July 21 Back Forty Harvest

not bad for July 21 here in PNW ..... the red pepper was labelled as Tangerine Dream - a sweet pepper - not - hot!! crossed seed ....... peppers are well known for their ability to cross pollinate - sweet peppers often with a hot pepper .... also a few Chocolate Sprinkles, Lucky Tiger, Yellow Brick Road, Tatjiana, Rebel Starfighter Prime and a lone cucumber (unable to id top green tomato)

July 21 Beds 10, 11 and 64 Rats!

go away for a few days and come back to this 😞

really hard call to pick all my tomatoes green or allow the rats to feast .......... hopefully most will ripen indoors, although it would be nice to pick a vine-ripened tomato before the season is over

some really nice looking striped heart shaped beauties .... 

and first to colour - pink/gold stripes - this is from my only potato leaf- Lilibet 4

the damage ..... had to trash so many tomatoes

Bed 64 also producing some big ones ...... Lilibet 3 with harvested tomatoes bottom right

and Lilibet 8 - amazing how these two plants made such a comeback ....
