October 11 Back Forty

a quick look out back .....

not sure if these cabbage will do much, but I had some bare ground, and they were available ..... "Farao" not a winter cabbage, but they are early

soon the peppers will be done to make room for winter viola ..... next year the plan is to grow only one variety of pepper "Donkey Ears" and I never used the eggplant - note to self - no eggplant next year

need some new thoughts for my fall garden next year ....

salad greens getting a bit overgrown, but still tasty

October 11 Beds 10, 11 and 64

 the time as come .........

empty bed 10 planted with a few kale starts; Bed 11 is full of self seeded mache from last year!! and a basil

few more radishes from Bed 64 and scattered greens  from earlier sowing

room for more ......

onions are emerging

love this aromatic sage

October 4 "R" Garden

October already ....... fall is in the air ....... and a quick trip to "R" Garden to check on progress of Buckwheat cover crop .....  older seed, so not great germination

September 26 Beds 10, 11 and 64 Nearing the End of Tomato Harvest

really happy to still be getting so many tomatoes from the Lily family, as my container tomatoes were overall stingy in their production

these green tomatoes will ripen over the next few weeks
ready to go

another Suyo Long - they grow quickly

Late September Time for Mini Vacation - Victoria

 always an enjoyable getaway ......

September 17 Beds 10, 11 and 64 Almost Done

Bed 64 ..... Lilibet 8 in front and Lilibet 3 at back; just a few more pics to capture fruit shape, colour and plant size

Bed 10 with Lilibet 6 to the right and a long vine of Lilibet 2 to the left, and ripe Lilibet 2 on another vine

Lilibet 7 in centre and Lilibet 1 behind right

two bags full - still picking these on the green side to avoid rodent damage, although the feasting has slowed down somewhat

disappointed with my Tithonia this year ..... the plant took over the garden, but had very few flowers...

still a bit of green in Bed 64 ..... these French Breakfast are almost ready to harvest

here is Lilibet 8 once again ........ the plant size and production look good, but these tomatoes were full of fibrous "fishbones" with no standout taste

self-seeded one year old sage ..... Bed 64

September 14 Back Forty Garlic and More

garlic is well dried, now time for clean up
again, I didn't keep the labels separate for these
some nice salad pickings, although I prefer the spring mustard

whoa .... trying so hard ...... look forward to this one next year
