September 16 The Last of a Few Things

last of the Lilibets .... this one was ripened from almost green ..... and the taste reflects that ....a bit of zing, but somewhat flat and mushy flavour ....  taste:  7

and the last of Beds 10, 11 and 64 .......... sorry to see this space go ......... a lot fewer tomato for me next season

scooped some soil to add to my compost

and brought home a lot of lovely marigolds that no one wanted ...... really added some nice colour to my mid-September garden ...... note to self ....... save seed and grow marigolds next year

September 15 Queen Elizabeth Park

September 15 Car Free Day

had to post this one .....

September 13 Beds 10, 11 and 64

time to take home what I want to keep .......

September 12 Back Forty

Wentzell tomato looking healthy, and Rose Quartz starting to wind down

Wentzell sizing up ...... fingers crossed for ripe tomatoes

Rose Quartz ...... this plant looks much more red than the Bed 10 plant ........ don't recall checking skin colour to confirm ....... clear skin would be pink with yellow skin providing a red tomato

this picture reminds me why I prefer Dwarf tomatoes

still blooming

two dahlias from seed ...... still waiting on buds

hidden side garden ...... doing OK without a lot of direct sun

September 10 Beds 10, 11 and 64

still lots of Rose Quartz to harvest

garden is almost done - these will ripen indoors

September 5-7 More Tomato Taste Tests

Crushed Heart  Taste:  8   sweet, juicy, smooth and meaty with a nice tang on the lips; maybe a bit on the mild side

sliced

Lily T23-68  Taste:  7+ maybe 8, a nice zing on first taste - creamy/meaty, no pronounced sweetness or rich flavour, but good flavour balance ......... bi-colour - getting more colour as the season progresses

sliced

Lilibet* from 'R' Garden  Taste:  8+  meaty, pink centre spot, nice acid kick; lovely tomato aroma, juicy lip-smacking, clear skin; nice balance, with some depth and also productive, but not the healthiest of plants
sliced

and a dahlia bouquet featuring Labyrinth
