May 18 Beds 10/11 and 64


Sunflowers just sprouted in middle of Bed 64 and Tithonia transplanted (left corner of bed)

Hong Vit radish leaf (left row) is such an amazing green - fast and tasty for stir fries; the Pac choi are great chow mein veggies as well; lime green lettuce mix just starting to take off from direct seeding

here is the dwarf tomato Worry plant 6 starting to bud already!!


May 13 R Garden


R Garden starting to green up with flax, poppies and self-seeded calendula

May 12 Container Tomato Update


May 12th already, and tomatoes are settling in, albeit with a little sunscald (note to self:  harden off next year!!) ......

from left to right, the tomatoes:  Sunchocola, Dwarf Firebird Sweet, Fred's Tie Dye and Oud Holland
and in front, the peppers:  Cajun Belle, Zolotistyi, Macedonian Sweet and Donkey Ears

again, from left to right, the tomatoes:  Uluru Ochre, Bundaberg Rumball and Red Lithium
in front, the peppers:  Donkey Ears, Padron and Donkey Ears
and just in, Kentucky Wonder pole beans in the trellis container

May 8 Bed 64 and More


Last of the radishes from Bed 64 ........


and time to transplant my Astia Zucchini (on the right) sown indoors April 9 and Scallopini sown on same date


also added some sunflowers to Bed 64 - for the bees


Green bush beans added to Bed 10 - sown in between the Pac Choi rows; these beans were saved from an abandoned bed, lovely and healthy last year, but no idea what variety they are

May 7 R Garden


Not too much of interested in early May, but always nice to watch the progress, so here we have an overview, then a few closeups of potatoes, succulents and strawberries



May 6 Container Tomatoes


On to the container tomatoes ...  their last portrait before transplant

and soil prep ........ spring bulbs are removed and soil reused, amended with compost, Gaia Green 4-4-4 and alphalfa


and they're in, so it begins ...... from far end:  Sunchocola, Dwarf Firebird Sweet, Fred's Tie Dye, Oud Holland, Uluru Ochre, Bundaberg Rumball and Red Lithium;  also prepared smaller containers in front for the peppers that will go out in a bit
