a few fall greens sown in 'R' garden (unfortunately these did not produce as I needed the space to get to my beans)

from 'R' garden

from the Back 40

Brad's Atomic Grate and Sweet Baby Jade - a dynamic duo!!

a big one ..... again, picked on the early side

more bounty from the Back 40

Atomic Fusion

August 18 Beds 10/11 and 64

Wow - I'm not used to getting so many large tomatoes off a few plants .....

another view of Bed 64

these are some nice sized tomatoes - picked a wee bit early to avoid various predators

beautiful tomato - hopefully flavour will be as lovely ..... Lilly 12

and another view of Beds 10/11; it's all about tomatoes - forget the bush beans!!

August 16 'R' Garden Update

a quick pop in to 'R' garden for some watering and harvesting ......

Brad's Atomic Grate - tomatoes don't usually do that well in this garden, but managed to get a few nice handfuls from BAG; also Santee sprouting broccoli, and a bean or two

overview - beginning to get that over-grown look

Scarlet Runner bean blossom - good story re this plant - found one single bean on a neighbourhood sidewalk - couldn't resist planting is ....... and this is the result

bean tower, rhubarb and broccoli

another bouquet of Creme Silence dahlias - more varigation starting to show later in the season

August 16 Back 40 Toms, Peppers and More

Lots of tomatoes ripening out back ....

first up - Sunchocola - prolific and tasty F1 hybrid

Atomic Fusion - another one from Brad Gates - nice, but not as prolific as Brad's Atomic Grape

Sweet Baby Jade - Karen Oliver introduction - early, sweet and prolific ..... love the name

a few larger Blood Moon added to the mix ...... Blood Moon is a very tasty tomato - another Brad Gates introduction from Wild Boar Farms cross of Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye and Blue Beauty;  wish there were more of them

Dahlias:  Cornell Bronze, a bit later to bloom, strong stems; Nuit d'Ete, lovely colour, lots of blooms, but a bit weak in the stems; Creme Silence, this is is really showing its value as a lovely foil to the richer colours, very early and tons of blooms

love the marigolds from seed ..... the zucchini and cucumbers are approaching their end - although if I had more space the zucchini would have kept on travelling

the peppers .. Donkey Ear,  Zolotistyi (yellow) and Super Shepherd

August 14 Beds 10/11 and 64

Cosmidium - searched for seed for a number of years ..... glad it is back in my garden

a yellow!! ..... the surprises begin (again failed to note which Lilly)

this is 15th and Vine - prolific ...... but also the rats' favourite .... so picked a bit early - it's a red paste

Papageno dahlia managed to produce this gorgeous blossom despite major competion with the tomato plants

August 13 Sweet Baby Jade Tomato

one of Karen Oliver's new introductions .... Flavour 8

definitely sweet, nice for a cherry/cocktail tomato and the healthy plant does provide a nice amount of fruit - although I think I prefer her KARMA Miracle ...... perhaps will grow both next year to compare

August 11 Blood Moon Tomato

Flavour 8+ ...... sweet, tangy, juicy; good texture - delicious - green seed gel, clear skin

not very productive

August 11 Beds 10/11 and 64

here come the tomatoes ........ stripes, hearts, dark shoulders ....... should be interesting to see the colours

and the overview ......

Santee sprouting broccoli - I found these much too bitter for my taste ..... perhaps roasted will improve the flavour

rhubarb and pole beans

Santee broccoli plant

cleaned out bush beans ...... sowed West Coast Seeds Winter Blend

overview -- tall light green chard going to seed
