More tomatoes (Muddy Mamba) starting to ripen and the watermelon radish looking good ........

arugula and French Breakfast radish starting to take off ....

hidden treasures (Kits Find)

more fall greens for Bed 64

last of the Sweet Peas and some good sized tomatoes, picked earlier to avoid pests and rain damage

September 9 Blackberry Surprise

Thought I'd check out the last of the blackberries ..... no luck, but came across this beauty instead

September 7 Back Container Garden

tomato production starting to slow, still a few strawberries, but the sweet peppers are the star of the show now ......

September 4 Beds 10/11 and 64

no need for watering today ...

Bed 64:  Russian Black Pear tomato still going strong .....

overview Beds 10 and 11

fall seedlings, poor germination on the Mizuna

more seedling pics - and check out the size of the Lillian's Yellow Heirloom x Dwarf Speckled Heart tomatoes - really great production, albeit on the late side - I'm hoping F2 will provide earlier fruit on dwarf plant

Nasturtium - this plant self seeded and was not bothered much by aphids - still looking beautiful - leaves, flowers and seeds all edible but a bit too spicy for my taste

September 4 Peppers

Haven't focussed much on the peppers ...... but first an early morning pic of my side garden

and of course more tomatoes, including Russian Mini Yellow (just didn't care for the taste, but it was sweet) Snow Mocha, Apero F1 (yum), Brad's Atomic Grape (another yum) and a few others

here are the sweet peppers:  Sweet Pickle, Macedonian Sweet and Donkey Ears .......

and another pic of the side container garden - the bumble bees love the tumbling ornamental oregano and a few flowers poking through the chrysanthemum foliage

August 31 - Seed Saving Time

Where did August go??  Here are the Loxton Lad tomatoes from the torn branch - ripened from green indoors ......

and sliced -

more roast tomatoes for sauce
 the saved seeds .......
fermentation - really like Craig's suggestion of putting a paper towel over the top of the jars to help with fruit fly larva issues .....

August 29 Tomatoes Close Up

Alsu showing yellow shoulders possibly due to heat/sun damage and sliced below - rather mushy without much flavour

PPP x PP "C"
and sliced - this was a favourite in the past, but again not knock your socks off this year

Fred's Tie Dye - one of the best flavoured varieties

Snow Mocha F1 - beautiful to look at, productive and good keepers, but the flavour is 0
and sliced

strawberry pot still providing fruit, and more of today's haul from the back garden

August 27 Back 40

What an amazing summer this has been ......... such a bounty of peppers and tomatoes ...... dahlias are enjoying the weather too

a mid-summer sowing of snow peas making their way up the trellis; chard and kale from seed should last into the winter; Bundaberg Rumball (front centre) loading up with more tomatoes on such a small plant

August 27 Beds 10, 11 and 64

one row of arugula is looking good, as is the row of French Breakfast radishes

this may be the year I finally get a crop of Watermelon Radish (far left) - I've tried to grow them for years with little success - scallions and mizuna appearing as well

Beds 10, 11 overview - tomato plants have made a great recovery from earlier in the summer
almost the end of August and this garden is still providing some big tomatoes - Kits Find, Fred's Tie Dye, Muddy Mamba and Russian Black Pear - and plenty more still to ripen

Bed 64 with Russian Black Pear tomato remaining healthy and still setting fruit - time to remove the sweet peas and save a few seeds .....
Fall is in the air .....
